Born in NYC where he spent his early years, Stephen was known for his explorations and adventures. Eventually his family moved to Emerson NJ where Stephen completed High School. After attending Fairleigh Dickinson University he spent time exploring his job options. He worked in a local Dairy Queen, worked in the insurance industry and eventually started Econo Courier.
Econo-Courier, Inc was established in 1972 and incorporated in 1973. Stephen determined that Economies of time, and price were as important to companies then as they are today. As a founding member of the MCAA, Stephen understood the need for a national network of couriers. Many years of devoted service and various positions on the board of directors allowed him the opportunity to tackle the issues of the day. Not to be mistaken for only 16 hour work days behind a conference table, Stephen also found camaraderie and friendships that are still evident today.
Stephen and his wife Sylvia lived in West Milford NJ with their two children, Peter and Jennifer. Stephen’s sense of adventure and exploration never changed. He and his family spent countless summer hours sailing along the East Coast. Stephen could be found cruising the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean to Nova Scotia. His love of knowledge and ability to devour a book made him an enormous source of information. His desire for adventure made him an accident waiting to happen. Many a broken or dislocated bone brought him to the local emergency rooms. Stephen truly lived life to its fullest. In the end his persistence to tasks, devotion to family and keen divergent thinking skills remain his legacy.
